As other reviews have mentioned, the book comes with planned weekly menus, starting with a beginner-level plan of 3 recipes to prep and advancing to 6 recipes to prep. It's easy to have delicious, healthy meals all week long by cooking a few recipes in large batches and freezing them in portion-sized bags.
Rather than coming home from a busy day at work to spend 20 minutes chopping vegetables, you can simply cook your ready-prepared meal and spend time with your family over home-cooked food. The first week prep 1 or 2 recipes ahead of time and as you get comfortable with the process you can prep more. Planning on throwing the potatoes with the chicken and see how many meals I get out of that. Meal prepping not only saves time throughout the week, it also saves a lot of money.
There are a lot of good reasons to start preparing meals - or portions of a meal - ahead of time. 6. Lo Mein Meal Prep - Save time, money and calories here. Consider things such as whether or not you will have access to a refrigerator or microwave, whether you'll have to eat on-the-go or have time to sit down, or whether there are some meals you will simply have to eat out for.
It helps to pick a specific cuisine for the week so you have a general idea of the type of produce to buy and meals you can make. Decide if you want to prepare complete meals that are ready to heat up when you come home or just prep ingredients for later use. If prepping twice a week doesn't work for you like it doesn't work for me, I just prep on Sunday for Monday - Thursday and then either go out for lunch on Friday or make something in the morning.
Not only is meal prep a great way to save time, as you cook only Meal Prep for Beginners once or twice a week and have a nutritious meal ready in a matter of minutes every day, but by planning ahead you can keep track of your calorie intake more easily. The meat takes a while to cook which leaves you with time to get other things done.
I like to print out my meal planning chart and write down what meals I'm having on what days (I also include snacks). Avoid overcooking or burning something by using a multi-timer app. The first step of the process is deciding what meals you want to prep that week.
So, for example, the roasted vegetables go with the chickpeas and rice on Day 1, and then are turned into a wrap on Day 2. Same with the brown rice which is paired with different foods on different days. Or maybe you know a few healthy friends who are religious about their #MealPrepSundays, and you think, "Ah, I wish I actually committed to doing that, too." Regardless, we're going to come out and say it—meal prep can be a bit overwhelming.
Put each meal's portion into a resealable freezer bag, along with any marinade you might want for it, and be sure to label what day you packaged it. Raw meat is good for a few days in the refrigerator, and if you can't get to it before then, you can just throw it directly in the freezer.
